Arizona Society of Homebrewers

Hi all, I'm brand new to brewing and looking to get an extract kit locally. I see that Brewer's Connection carries the True Brew brand. For those of you doing extrat brews, what would you suggest as a first brew?

Secondly, I've looked at the True Brew extract kits on http://www.brewersconnection.com/catalog/boxkit.html and I'm not sure what they mean by a Continental Light Ale. What style would this fall under? It just seems to be too broad a term for me to be sure if I would enjoy it. Is it a Kolsch, Alt, Dubbel, Belgian Golden/Blonde, Saison, etc?

Thanks for any help you can provide on either of my questions! I've got a few ciders under my belt but this will be my first beer.

I think Continental Light Ale is supposed to approximate the something like an Amstel Light.

As I first brew, I would recommend paging through the Brewers Connections recipe books and talking to Nick, Colby or Dale. Their recipes aren't too much different than a "kit" bu they usually have steeped specialty grains, fresh hops and yeast. The difference in price is offset by the flavor and quality.
Thanks Rob. I'll make sure to head down and talk to them. I discovered some of their recipe's on the website after posting on here, but talking to them will help me better determine what I want to brew for my first.
I brewed their First Born pale ale. I think that is a great beer to start with and it's pretty tasty too...
