He freezes the stuff in one gallon bags to preserve and gives them to his chickens as treats.

"Obviously, if you are using a carboy you probably want to cover it with a dark t-shirt, garbage bag, etc. I'm not sure if incandescent lights give off much UV light but probably shouldn't risk it..."

I have the bottom controlled by blocking some vents. I'll throw a lamp in there, see what happens, might need to re-locate temp sensor. Thx.

"Are you just keeping it in the bathtub or do you normally ferment in some kind of fridge with a temp controller? In the past when I've needed to heat I've just put a lamp in the fridge and use the heat cycle on my controller."

I want to build a fermentation chiller (cold box) to brew beer through the summer. Found various interesting plans online from simple and janky to complex and too hoity-toity. Not that I need another DIY project but...
